| With bold vision and an eye toward the future, the Division of Housing and Food Services is undertaking or partnering on several major construction projects that are changing the face of Michigan State University, while providing new and exciting avenues for food service and student housing, as well as helping us stay current with others in the Big Ten. This Web site was designed in an effort to keep you informed about the changes that are taking place over the next couple of years. Current projects will have a construction log and photo, which will be updated about every one to two weeks. Completed projects can be viewed from the menu on the left. Please visit often to see what's new. Over the past two years, the Division of Housing & Food Services has undertaken a variety of building and renovation developments, including six recently completed projects. A new addition to Food Stores has allowed The MSU Bakers to work in an expanded and modernized workspace. Extensive renovations and construction at Snyder/Phillips Hall has resulted in a dramatic new three-story structure that houses not only the most popular dining venue on campus, but also classrooms and office space for the new Residential College for Arts and Humanities. The old University Village apartments were demolished in May 2006 and have been replaced with a new complex with 67 new four-bedroom, two-bath apartments. What was Spartan Village School was re-programmed into a new Community Center, where University Housing Assignments, University Apartments, Residence Life and a community policing office is now housed. The MSU Union renovated part of their Food Court by incorporating the past with the present, complete with new seating arrangements, flat screen TVs and Union artifacts. Finally, the Breslin Center's basketball locker rooms received major renovations, adding modern features and finishes to the spaces. This year, we have four exciting new projects in the works. Holden hall is updating the main floor spaces, Holmes Hall C-Stores is remodeling into a Sparty's Coffeehouse, Mayo Hall is upgrading their building, and H&FS Information Services is moving into the former University Housing building on Service Drive as soon as it is remodeled. Watch as we give you weekly updates to these four new projects in Housing & Food Services. |
