The Owen servery and dining room also was updated and is now overseen by a new executive chef. Infrastructure changes were also made to the loading docks, and fire protection and alarm systems. | August 26 | ![]() Renovations are complete at Owen Hall! Riverwalk Market is open and operating. Coolers and shelves have been stocked with beverages and goodies and the buffet counters have been filled with fresh salad bar ingredients. A welcome banner has been hung near the front entrance and few opening celebrations have been scheduled to showcase Owen’s new interior. Stop by to check out the new and improved Owen Hall! ![]() |

| August 19 | ![]() Owen’s renovations are nearly complete! The Riverwalk Market sign has been hung in the center hallway. In the kitchen, chefs are running through the menu to ensure top quality upon opening. ![]() Countertops now display serving ware and all tables in the dining area have napkin and salt and pepper shaker centerpieces. After major renovations, Owen’s basement now has an expanded community kitchen integrated into a new game and TV room. It also has public study rooms for private group or individual study. Furniture is also being moved into these areas. ![]() |

| August 4 | ![]() Work at Owen is nearing completion. Walls have been painted, counters and coolers have been installed and flooring has been laid and polished. Electricians are in the process of installing all sorts of electrical components needed to heat buffet counters and to create ambient lighting in the serving and dining areas. The dining area awaits tables and chairs, and a reception desk now fills a large empty space in the front hall. Construction on the back dock looks complete. ![]() |

| July 22 | ![]() The kitchen, serving and dining areas are really starting to take shape in Owen. In the serving area, crews are in the process of installing more counters, coolers and made-to-order stations. A large door, similar to a garage door, has been added to separate the serving area from the dining area. Outside the serving area, workers have begun to install booths, benches and lighting. More paint has been added throughout the center section, and near the front of the hall doors have been added to the offices. Crews have also been working on the new staircase, which is now more enclosed and has guardrails. Outside, the construction on the back dock looks as though it is nearing completion. ![]() |

| July 17 | ![]() Small wires are now hanging from the ceiling tracking throughout the center portion of Owen. Throughout the center portion, crews have begun to paint the walls a variety of colors including green, red and black. In the serving area, coolers and some window walls have been installed and crews are working on the flooring. Outside of the center section, crews are working on the elevators and electrical systems throughout the hall. ![]() |

| July 10 | ![]() Most of the walls in the kitchen and dining area have now been dry walled and crews are in the process of painting them. Crews are also working on installing a lot of pipes in the kitchen ceiling. Many fire extinguishers have been placed in one of the student room wings, and will presumably be installed throughout the hall soon. Outside, work is progressing on the back dock, which is being expanded to accommodate a more extensive recycling program. ![]() |

| June 19 | ![]() Just past the main entrance to Owen, where the hall’s administrative offices were previously located, crews are working on installing a new staircase connecting the first floor and the basement. Crews have also installed flooring over the hole that was left behind when they removed the previous center staircase last week. Along the outside walls of the new dining area, purple fireproof wall board is being installed. Throughout the center section of the hall, crews are installing piping along the ceiling tracking. |

| June 12 | The center staircase that used to connect the basement and first floor has now been removed. In the kitchen area, crews are installing duct work and have begun to hang drywall on the metal framing. |

| June 5 | ![]() Work continues in the center portion of Owen, which is now gutted down to the steel supports. Crews are also drilling into the brick wall that runs along the stairwell that leads from the first floor to the basement. |

| May 27 | ![]() Construction is now going on in full force at Owen. Workers are installing fire suppression sprinkler systems in the student room wings on the first and second floors. Asbestos abatement is being done on the first floor East Wing, and the main floor reception desk area, office area, lounge, Owen Café and dining room areas have all been gutted. In the dining room, workers are chipping away at plaster, smoothing out the walls, and digging is happening in the back dock-area outside. ![]() |

| May 14 | Now that students have moved out of Owen for the summer, crews are preparing to start construction. Currently, crews are getting ready to begin the asbestos abatement. After this step is completed, construction will begin in earnest. |

| March 18 | Over Spring Break, work crews removed the ceiling coverings in the Owen Café dining area. The ceiling will remain exposed for the duration of the semester. The majority of construction for the Owen renovation project will occur this summer. |
